Wednesday 2nd December 2015

Greenaway Scott recently advised on the acquisition of a Cardiff-based Wi-Fi experience monitoring specialist by listed telecommunications testing company Spirent Communications.

Epitiro, which was founded in 2005 by Gavin Johns and Jon Curley, has been sold to Spirent Communications to build on the success of a strategic partnership.

Communications and network testing company Spirent makes products which enables providers to proactively identify problems. Epitiro's web-based platform, which provides continuous visibility of the end-user experience, is now part of Spirent's newly-formed Mobility product line.

Gavin Johns, managing director of Epitiro, said: "Service providers and large enterprises increasingly rely on Wi-Fi to provide users with high-quality voice, video and data services and access to business-critical applications.

"Unfortunately, the complexity of Wi-Fi and its dynamic interaction with LTE and other mobile technologies often leaves providers and enterprises blind to the actual end user experience."

Nigel Greenaway, corporate director of Greenaway Scott and non-executive director of Epitiro at the time of sale, said: "Epitiro is a cutting edge technology company and exactly the sort of business we like to work with. It has an extremely unique offering with huge growth potential which makes it a hugely attractive proposition on multinational communication companies.

"We are extremely pleased that we were able to help secure a favourable deal for all parties involved in the acquisition, which will, no doubt, strengthen their combined offering in the market place."
